Under singular, abrasive pressure from Fox News and voter questions, didn't get overtly rattled, but lost control of his image more than usual and provided some fingernails-on-the-blackboard moments that will give his critics more ammunition about his unnerving manner. When reproached by a voter whose son serves in Iraq about his past comment that his five sons are serving the nation by working on his campaign, offered a peculiar smile and an answer wholly devoid of a feel-your-pain tone. Was 78% comfortable explaining his complex position on a human life amendment, but will still need to reconcile the remaining 22% in future campaign events. Repeatedly jabbed Rudy Giuliani on immigration, but without vigor and to no great effect. Gave several answers on Iraq mired in gobbledygook. Will at some point have to show more of a sense of humor if he wants to win.
